Bella and Sam were in shock after seeing two of their best friends die and Sam having a metal spike penetrate his leg, luckily he was going to be alright. She couldn't help wondering why the murderer was going after them all and that it all happened on a night that they were staying at Justin's house. What had they done and why did someone want them dead? She stayed quiet, not quite sure what to say.
Sam's mum spoke up, " If you want you can take Sam out for a walk around the hospital, of course he would have to go in a wheelchair but if you wouldn't mind pushing him then you can."
Bella's eyes lit up, she really needed to talk to someone about what had happened and if she was going to talk to anyone it would be Sam. She nodded like one of those nodding toys you get for cars.
"I'll go and talk to the doctors and tell them where you two are going." She got up and went to talk to them, "They said as long as you stay in the grounds it will be fine."
Then one of the doctors came out of Sam's room with Sam in a wheelchair, "Here you go, be careful and if he gets tired bring him back" He smiled at Bella.
"Thank you, I will" Bella didn't feel like smiling but she was happy to get to speak to Sam without their parents.
Once they were outside Bella sat on a bench so she could talk to Sam properly.
"Why us?" What did we do to make somebody want to kill us?" She was almost crying but she tried to hide it because there were nurses everywhere and she didn't want to talk to them. Sam stayed quiet for a while before he spoke, "I don't think we should talk about this here, take me to the church I will feel safer there" he paused.
Then Bella tried to protest,” No I will get in so much trouble I was told to....."
Sam interrupted "Do you really care about that? If you want to talk to me we go to the church, if not take me inside and don't say anything."
Bella had made up her mind "........but......... Ok, we'll leave but I'm telling you if we get caught your mum will kill me!"
When they reached the church Sam spoke,” I don't think this was done because of us I think it was done to us, I heard the police talking before I tripped over the wire and they were speaking about some stuff they found on Lizzie's phone, they were from a guy called Mr......." Sam took a deep breath "He was called Mr Acks"
There was something in the church which sounded like a mouse, after Bella had processed what Sam had told her, she looked as though she was about to burst in to tears. "You think Lizzie was helping him, don't you? I agree I mean it can't be a coincidence that she was in contact with a guy called Mr Acks when there is an axe murderer on the loose and chasing us." Then she heard the thing she thought was a mouse. She jumped and looked all around her. All Sam heard was her screaming then before he could even blink he saw him, Mr Acks. Now he was glad he knew how to prevent people from doing what they want to do. "Em, excuse me, mister, are you here to take me back to the hospital?" He was also glad he took sign language lessons with Bella, he signed "We need help, I'll distract him if you call the police," Bella understood him immediately and backed in to the church kitchen, once Sam was sure Bella was safe he spoke,” So who are you exactly?" Of course he already knew the answer but he thought he could talk to him better if he knew his first name. Mr Acks just mumbled as though it was hard for him to speak.
Sam knew how to work his wheelchair so he started moving around,” I’m sorry, I didn't quite catch that."
"My name is Mr Acks but I know you already knew that" he was interrupted by the banging on the door Sam could hear the police with his and Bella's parents. Just as Mr Acks was about to strike Sam with the axe that Sam hadn't noticed until now Bella came from nowhere hit Mr Acks on the head with the pan she found in the kitchen and then ran to open the door. The police came pouring in with Sam, Bella, Justin and Lizzie's parents also to his surprise one of the doctors from the hospital.
Bella launched in to her apologies and tried to get Sam out of trouble to. That was hard, they were all happy that the axe murderer had got caught but they were also disappointed that Bella and Sam had left the hospital in the first place. As they were leaving the church they stopped and watched the police force Mr Acks in to the car. He saw them looking and spoke,” I will be back and trust me when I am you will not win!" The man sounded so sure it terrified Bella and Sam. They exchanged a look and knew he would be back.
